Obituary of Janet Graham Hollis

HOLLIS, Janet Graham- Age 78 of Herring Cove, Mum joined the “great lights above” on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at home in the arms of her husband of 50 years.

Mum was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on July 20,1944 to Ada (nee Graham) and Raymond Hopkins. She attended University of Toronto where she graduated with her Masters in Physiotherapy, after which she began her career in Edmonton, Alberta. She made numerous wonderful friends during her time in Toronto and Edmonton, many who she remained close to for life.  Mum made her way back to Halifax Nova Scotia, where she married Charles Wayne Hollis on August 19, 1972. She was the loving mother of Lisa (Bruce), Kevin (Florem) and Tim (Annette).

She loved her grandchildren Ashley, Charlie and Isobel dearly and was a big part of their lives. Mum loved to help people and spent much of her free time volunteering and tutoring during herretirement. She is survived by her sister Diane Ashton, nephews Brian (Sandy) Ashton, Steven (Jennifer) Ashton, and their children Aaron, Sophie, Thomas and Maya.

Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, N.S. In keeping with Janet’s wishes there will be no visitation.  A funeral service will take place Thursday February 9^th, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St Paul’s United Church on Old Sambro Rd with a 173 Old Sambro Rd, Halifax Nova Scotia B3R 2H6, following the funeral service there will be a reception in the church hall.
