David, Brian, Blair & Families
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear father. He was such a kind soul with an award winning smile. We have many fond memories (especially all those navy stories about Bernie & Rick) of both your parents who were such great friends to our family. I still recall the surprise baby shower your mom & dad had for me 29 years ago! Please know that we are thinking of you and hope that all those wonderful memories comfort you as you go through this difficult time.

Hello to the family of Uncle Bernie.
Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of your dad.
I will never forget when i was a kid at home and mom would call out, we got another postcard from uncle Bernie, it would be from some far off place in the world we had never been.
Just watched the service and it was very nice.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Bernie. Whenever they visited us in Ontario, they always said how proud they were of their three sons. Blair did such a wonderful thing by keeping so close to them both, especially in their later years. They were so proud and thankful to know that you were always there. We shared many stories when Ruth and Bernie visited and loved Bernie's humour. Much love to Blair and Penny, David and Janet, Brian and Marnie and all of their beautiful Granddaughters. Rest in peace.

To the Cassidy Family, I'm so sorry to hear the news of your Dad's passing, I remember him and your Mom very well. They always sat behind me at the 4pm Mass on Saturday at St Michael's. Your Dad was such a kind and gentle man that always had a smile on his face and nothing but kind words when he spoke. He always looked forward to going to the Moosehead's game after Mass. He spoke so highly and was so proud of his boys and how they took such good care of him. I have often thought of him over the last few years and prayed he was doing fine. I miss seeing him come through the Church doors every Saturday. May God give you all strength as you go through the difficult days ahead. Rest in Peace Bernie. My Deepest Sympathy.

After a long and beautiful life, our dear Bernie is safely home with God and his beloved Ruth! I have loved Bernie and Ruth my entire life---such loving, spiritual, and gracious people. Having lost my own Mom and Dad before I got married, Bernie and Ruth graciously agreed to represent my parents at my wedding to Rick Sugden in 2005. We certainly kept in touch over the years visiting one another and always by regular phone calls. I will surely miss those visits and phone calls! My love to the family!

Happy Heavenly Birthday Great Uncle Bernie! You were the best of the best. I loved listening to your travel stories (Navy and leisure) just as much as you loved telling them. Your memory of the past was truly remarkable and I learned so much of what it was like growing up in that generation. In my younger years, I remember you and Ruth arriving in Bathurst in your camper van and thinking that was so cool. You were never scared of a dessert and passed on your sweet tooth to Blair. We shared a love for the Halifax Mooseheads and they will miss their loyal #1 fan (since 1994) but most of all we will miss you immensely. May the family take comfort knowing that he is with Ruth with a big smile on their faces.

I remember Bernie at RCNA Peregrine functions, in particular Battle of the Atlantic and Remembrance Day. He was kind and I felt that he was generous with his time in speaking with me. I was very pleased to reconnect with him at the dedication ceremony at Point Pleasant Park for the Kootney in 2018. Bernie really impressed me as a genuine sailor and gentleman. My condolences to the family and to his shipmates.
