Obituary of Dorothy Grace Moser
MOSER, Dorothy (Dot) Grace (Hamilton)- Slipped away peacefully on February 14, 2023 in her 90th year. Dorothy was born in Halifax to the late Ariel Hamilton and Hilda Lavers. She was raised in a loving home by her aunt and uncle Myrtle and Arthur Hamilton. Dot spent her entire life in Halifax, NS. In her early years Dorothy’s focus was on family and as they grew, she began working alongside John in his business. Dorothy was a long-time member of the Spryfield Lioness service organization and a tireless volunteer throughout the years to the Lions International community fundraising endeavours. A skilled knitter, she made sweaters, hats, mittens and more recently beautiful baby blankets for her great grandchildren. Dorothy and John travelled across Canada to spend time with their grandchildren over the years and spent their summers in Martin’s River, NS. Until recently Dorothy was a resident of Melville Heights, where she made many friends before moving to Northwood Centre, Halifax Campus for more assistance. The family is grateful for the kindness and care extended to their mom over the past four months by the Nurses and Support Staff at Northwood and Companion Leslie (Comforting Companions), for her weekly visits.
Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband John to whom she was married for 56 years and will be honoured and missed by their surviving children, Janet Simon (Philip) Winnipeg, MB, Susan Watts (Sid) Kilmuir, PE, JoAnne Dobson (Milt) Burlington, ON and Paul Moser (Cindy) Lake Charlotte, NS; Dorothy was a proud Grandmother to Tamara, Daniel, Kaleigh, Wendy, Dennis, Graham, Andrew, Laura, Justin, Devyne; sixteen great grandchildren. Sister-in-law, Helen MacDonald, Halifax, NS. She was predeceased by her sister, Diana Hamilton; brother-in-law, James MacDonald.
Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005)., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, N.S. A family interment will be held in the spring.
