Obituary of James Edward Askew
ASKEW, James "Jamie" Edward - Age 48 of Dartmouth, it is with great sadness the Family announces the peaceful passing of James "Jamie" Askew at the Dartmouth General Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Halifax, he was the son of William Askew (Goodwood) and the late Donna Sharon Hallett.
Jamie had a huge heart, and although he loved his family, his ultimate love were his children. Jamie enjoyed when family got together for special occasions, dinners, and outings. He was known for his artistic drawings, storytelling, and hidden signatures. He also enjoyed nature walks, hiking, music, working with wood, wood burning, wood carving, and carving swords for individuals who will cherish those gifts. Others will cherish memories such as skipping rocks at Long Lake. Times with family how short or long, just a simple phone call would make his day. Jamie had many friends, the younger often referring to him as "Uncle Jamie". He was so kind-hearted and would offer to help in anyway even if it was a kind word.
Surviving are his two daughters, Amber Askew (Halifax) and Faith Askew (Ontario); sisters, Patricia (John) Askew (Halifax), Carolyn Phillips (Halifax); brother, William (Melissa) Askew (Ontario); special sister, Rachelle Atwood (Halifax). He was predeceased by his son James Edward Askew Jr.
