Obituary of Marilyn Anne MacDonald

 

 

MACDONALD, Marilyn Anne (Mills)- Age 71 of Halifax, it is with great sadness that we, announce the passing of Marilyn peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary, on Friday, May 19th with family at her side. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Marion Mills, and daughter-in-law to the late Harris and Francis MacDonald.

 

At a young age, Marilyn gave up her career at Bell to become a dedicated mother to her two children. She had a kind heart and cared deeply for her family and friends, enjoying many summers with them at the family cottage where she could be found tending to her garden or just sitting back smiling and laughing while appreciating the flutter of hummingbirds and calls of the loons in the distance.  Marilyn has bravely lived with Parkinson’s over the last 13 years.

 

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Hughie (Albert); son, Stephen (Stephanie Muller); daughter, Shelley (Colin Winters); siblings, John (Belva Mills), Mary (Dave Trott), Ronnie, Susie (Bruce Leblanc), and Pat (Ann Mills); many nieces and nephews.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax.   In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes, a visitation will take place at the funeral home Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 7-8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Chapel on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 11 a.m. Following the funeral service, a burial will occur at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Halifax.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in her memory to the Parkinson’s Society of Nova Scotia.
