Obituary of Joseph Wilbert Perry

PERRY-Joseph Wilbert-March 26, 1938-August 15, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Joseph Wilbert (Willie) Perry, at the age of 85.  He is predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley, after almost 60 years of marriage, his parents, Edgar and Ellen (Wedge) Perry, and sister Margaret-Ann.  He is survived by his siblings, John, Leo (Eva), Catherine, Joseph (Trish), Arthur & Jimmy (Liz)

He leaves behind his children, Joe (Jennifer), Pam (Ray), Daryl (Natasha) and Michael, 5 grandchildren, Sarah (Matthew), Danielle, Brittany (Tyler), Cassandra (Marc) and Zolen. Willie was great-grandfather to 6 – Joshua, Tyler, Kaylee, Braeden, Bailee and his latest, Kalia. Dad provided for the family working as a calibration technician on electronic avionics equipment and worked at both the Halifax dockyard as well as CFB Greenwood, NS. He worked for such companies as Canadian Marconi Electronics, Pylon Electronics, Canadian Aviation Electronics and Hermes Electronics. He found time to volunteer as a member of the Kinsmen Club for years in the Annapolis Valley. Dad worked 2 and 3 jobs, at times, to provide for his family... one being a bartender some nights at the Top Hat Beverage Room...he must have thought that he was in heaven! Anybody that knew dad well, knows how much he liked his beer or rye.

Dad spent the past 15 months at Parkstone Enhanced Care, in Halifax. He had the staff loving him in no time at all...(mainly the female staff ).  His children wish to thank all the staff for their love, dedication and professionalism they provided to “Sweet Willie Pie”.   Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home.  Special Thank You to Erin, for her compassion and professionalism.   Memorial Mass will be held at St Agnes Roman Catholic Parish, 6903 Mumford Road, Halifax, NS, on Tuesday August 22, 2023 at 10:30 AM.  As per family wishes there will not be visitation. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the NS Lung Association. The family invites you to a reception following the service in the annex of the church.
