Obituary of Shirley Marlita Schnare

80, of Sambro, NS. Sadly, but peacefully, Shirley passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 in Halifax, following an all-too-short battle with cancer. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, NS, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Margaret Tanner.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Allan Schnare, son, Andrew (Trisha Gray), daughter, Allana Itani (Nadi), and 3 grandchildren Madison Schnare, Tanner Itani and Hannah Itani.  As well, Trisha’s son, Grayson Blackburn was like a grandson to Shirley. Shirley is also survived by her sisters, Marlene (Tanner) MacLellan and June Tanner, her brother, Ray Tanner, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, Guy and Margaret (Reid) Tanner, sister Janet Tanner, and brother, Vernon Tanner.

A funeral service will be held in memory of Shirley on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 1pm from J. Albert Walker Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a reception. Interment will follow the reception at Sambro Cemetery, Sambro, NS. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Shirley to The Canadian Cancer Society.
