Tony Baker

Obituary of Tony Baker

BAKER, Anthony “Tony” Leo- Age 66 It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Tony Baker who passed away at the Halifax Infirmary on October 26th, 2023.  Born in Sandy Cove and raised in Lockeport, Tony was the son of the late Leo and Lennie Baker.

Tony spent most of his years as a bartender/bar manager and enjoyed getting the family together for music, dancing, and drinks (Baker parties). In Highschool Tony was a great all-around athlete, playing basketball among other sports in which he excelled.  Later in life, he loved to watch all 3 of his grandsons on the court. He was a proud coach for several years. In soccer, he was nicknamed the Sherman Tank, which speaks to his toughness.

He was brilliant in most subjects. Who wants to be a millionaire, Crossword puzzles and Trivial Pursuit couldn’t challenge him. He played even in his last days with his closest family members. He also could never be beaten in an arm wrestle.

He had a tough exterior but a warm heart. He could always be counted on for a laugh and he was the most sarcastic person you’d ever meet. All will greatly miss him, and he would want you all to know that he was the best at pretty much everything.

Survived by His wife of 42 years Danette, his daughters Danielle and, Jaimi (Shane), and his 3 grandsons Ryland, Camden, and Jase that were his pride and joy. His brothers Danny (Linda) and Andy (identical twin), Kenny (Cora), and an extremely supportive extended family. Special mention to Danny Buchanan who was like a son to Tony.  He was predeceased by his sister Colleen "Sis".

Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd.  In keeping with Tonys' wishes there will be no visitation or Funeral Service.
