Obituary of Donald Howard Raftus

RAFTUS, Donald "Donny" Howard- Age 80 It is with broken hearts that we are writing that Donald "Donny" Howard Raftus was born on January 18, 1943, in Halifax, he was the late son of Howard and Dinah (Rogers) Raftus.  Donny passed away on November 3, 2023, at the QEII Halifax Infirmary. Donnie worked as a laborer for many years at the Department of National Defence before retiring. He was a legion member and loved spending time there listening to country music, especially Charlie Pride, and playing bingo. Donnie loved his time spent in L'Ardoise, Cape Breton on vacations, and sitting and chatting with family and friends, with a good cup of tea or coffee, and a sweet to go with it. "Tea and crumpets," we used to say.

Donnie is survived by his loving wife, Anette Raftus; children, Joey, Raftus, and Christopher Raftus, stepchildren, Debbie Allen, and Denine Richard; sister, Nancy (Barry) McDonald; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  Donny was predeceased by his stepson Anthony Richard; sister, Audrey (Donald) Redmond, Norma (Harold) Royal; brother, Bobby (Virginia), and Gary Raftus. 

Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd.  In keeping with Donny's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.  Following Donny's cremation, he will stay with his loving wife, until they are laid to rest together in their gate of heaven cemetery.
