Salsman (nee Daniels), Evelyn Christina, age 106 of Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, NS
Evelyn passed away peacefully at Melville Gardens in Halifax with family by her side on Monday, January 8, 2024. She was born in Annapolis County to the late Enos and Mildred (Metacraft) Daniels. Evelyn lived her life In Lawrencetown until the age of 97 when she moved to Halifax to be closer to family.
Evelyn enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and baking. She made the tastiest donuts that her family enjoyed, particularly Bruce who often made his request for them.Evelyn especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She also kept herself busy with community pursuits such as being a member of the Lawrencetown Baptist Church, Ladies Legion, Rebecca Lodge, Women’s Missionary Society and the Red Hatters group.
In Evelyn’s earlier married years she and her husband Frank, of 70 years, raised their much loved daughter Rhoda Baugild. They were a small family unit but there was a lot of love and caring for each other. The close bond continued until the end. Living a typical rural small farm life, Evelyn happily had a hand to garden vegetables and flowers and she could be found picking strawberries in the fields. Evelyn fed and tended the various farm animals as needed. At bean harvest time, she would be in the fields picking for the Graves Cannery. She would always ensure her hard working husband Frank was well fed at meal time. If he could not make it home, she would pack a lunch and deliver it to him in the fields and forest.
