Obituary of Jennifer A. Dickey
It is with overwhelming sadness that we share news of the passing of Jennifer Anne Dickey on December 22, 2016. She was born to Stephen and Catherine (Cooper) Dickey on November 29, 1997 in Halifax.
Jennifer attended school in Timberlea and graduated with honours from Sir John A. MacDonald High School in 2015. She was currently enrolled at Dalhousie University in Commerce and a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She aspired to be a lawyer focusing on international law, where her intelligence and dedication would no doubt have led to great success.
A kind and loving young woman with a vibrant smile that lit up the room, Jennifer was beautiful inside and out. This past spring, Jennifer and her sister Ashley embarked on a month-long adventure through Europe. With a budding passion for travel, it was a highlight of Jennifer’s young life surpassed only by the birth of her niece, Charlotte in April of this year. The family all agrees that Charlotte looks just like Jennifer.
Jennifer is survived by parents, Stephen and Catherine Dickey (Cooper); brother, Stephen (Loryn Gentle) Ottawa ON; sister, Ashley (David McIntyre); her most special niece, Charlotte Ann Dickey; grandparents, Wayne and Hazel Cooper (Obendorf), and E. Joyce Dickey (Carney); aunts, Susan Cooper (Jeff White), Mary Kate Williamson (Dickey) (Rob Williamson) Ottawa ON, Laura Allen Dickey, Ann Arbor, MI; uncles, Stephen Cooper (Callie Davison), Arthur Dickey (Raymond St Aubin), Toronto ON, Michael Dickey (Paula MacDonald), Cohasset MA, John R. Dickey (Marie Klopf), Ann Arbor MI, and Greg (Dickey) DePaco (Kimberley (Parrott) DePaco), New Westminster BC; great aunts, Janet Carney, Elizabeth Rhymer (Obendorf), Patricia Veinot (Cooper) (Ron Veinot), Carolyn (Brown) Cooper and Godmother, Ursula Steiner, Montreal QC; great uncles, Philip (Andrea Bailey) Obendorf, Colin (Catherine Hardiman) Cooper; cousins, Rebecca, Tim, Camryn, Matthew, Evelyn, Davis, Lysander, Patrick, Jacob, Amy and many second and third cousins. She was predeceased by her grandfather, John H. Dickey; great uncle, David Cooper; great aunt, Nancy Carney and most recently, great uncle, Michael Carney.
The family thanks everyone for all of the love and support with special thanks to Kathy O’Neill.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29 from 5-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 30 at 10:00 AM in St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Parish, 18 Scholars Road, Upper Tantallon, Father Joseph MacKinnon as Celebrant. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Breast Cancer Action Nova Scotia.
