Obituary of Doris Eileen Poirier

Doris Eileen Poirier,

January 7, 1947 – April 11, 2024

Age 77, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024 at the Q.E.II Infirmary, with her loving sons by her side.

Doris was proud to be a Slaunwhite and loved her community of great friends and family. Throughout her life she enjoyed being social, through the Golden Age Social Centre (young at heart), Royal Canadian Legion Branch 152, and a lunch monitor at William King Elementary. Doris will be remembered for her love to dance and sense of humor. She was also an avid bingo player.

Doris is survived by her sons, Garrison Major, Harold Brightman (Tara-Lee Flemming); grandson, Riley Brightman; brothers, Donald (Rose) Slaunwhite, Bayside; Arnold Slaunwhite, Truro; sisters, Beverly Craig, Tatamagouch, Joan Clements (Wayne), Lakeside; Rose Williams (Rod), Whitehorse Yt; aunt, Marie Morash, Terence Bay.

Waiting for Doris in Heaven, is her parents Clyde and Lillian (Findley) Slaunwhite; brothers, Irvin, and Weldon Slaunwhite; granddaughter, Olivia Brightman.

Visitation will be from 10 - 11 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2024 with memorial service to follow at 11. a.m. in the J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax.
