Obituary of Ronald Miah

MIAH, Ronald “Ron”- Age 88, it is with great sadness in our hearts that our beloved father, and grandfather, Ronald Miah, died peacefully in his home on Sunday, June 2, 2024. Born in 1936 in Stepney, London, England, Ron was the son of the late Paku and Edith (Barnett) Miah.

Ron served in the Royal Air Force (RAF), then in the UK Merchant Navy, and worked for British Telecom. In Canada, he then worked as an audio and visual specialist for Sony and Saint Mary's University. Before he retired, he also worked as a taxi driver in Halifax. He had childhood dreams of becoming an aircraft pilot, which he fulfilled by achieving his Private Pilot License under Transport Canada. Ron moved to Ontario, Canada, and then to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he met and married his late wife Judy G. Harnish.

Ron is survived by his son, Tim Miah; grandson, Damian Miah; many nieces and nephews in England; and extended family and friends all over England and Canada. Ron was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Judy (Harnish) Miah; son, Colin Miah; brothers Derek, Brian and Ken.

Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. In keeping with Ron’s wishes, there will be a visitation at the funeral home from 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, followed by a funeral service held in our Chapel at 11 a.m., presided by the Rev.
