Obituary of Christopher Daniel Clare

CLARE, Christopher Daniel age 76, of Halifax.

In Loving Memory of Christopher Daniel Clare June 15, 1948 – November 21, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Daniel Clare. He left us peacefully surrounded by love and memories after a short but fierce battle with cancer. Born in London, Ontario in 1948, he was the son of the late Bernard and Ruth Clare.

Chris spent the latter part of his life bringing joy and kindness to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A dedicated public servant, Chris spent 50+ of his adult years as a taxi driver with Armadale and Casino Taxi, mainly in Halifax, where he became a familiar and friendly face in the community. Known for his quick wit and warm heart, Chris had a remarkable ability to connect with people, leaving lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to cross his path.

Chris will be remembered not only for his sense of humor but also for his kindness and acceptance of anyone in his life. His legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will live on in the lives he touched.

Chris was a proud father to his children and a cherished grandfather to his four beloved grandchildren. He shared a lifetime of friendship and laughter with his special and dear friend, Ellie. Although he and Rose divorced many years before, they remained friends and proud grandparents together all the years of his life.

He is survived by his children, Angela and Chris; grandchildren, Mallory, Evan, Noah, and Cali; loving sisters, Ruth Thomsen and Shelly Clare, who will forever carry his memory close to their hearts. Chris was surrounded by nieces and nephews including Michael Thomsen, and Kim MacDonald (Duncan) AKA Kimmie, Jessica (Coady) and Justin, and many others that he loved dearly.  Chris is predeceased by his brother, Brock Clare; sister, Joanne (Rodney) Burns, who now welcome him with open arms.

Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax.  In keeping with Chris’s wishes there will be no visitation. A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor Chris’s memory by performing an act of kindness in his name or leaving a good tip to the staff at Tim Horton’s as he always did.

Rest in peace, Daddy. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.  I love you so much.

Until we reunite again,

Ang
