Obituary of Bonita A. Findlay

Spryfield. With her loving family and dearest friends at her side in her 69th year after a courageous battle with cancer Bonnie was freed from her pain and suffering. Bonnie was born in Asbestos Quebec to the late Anatole and Alberta (Smith) Demers. Bonnie Graduated in 1968 with her RNA and continued to work in the field in some capacity until her retirement in 2015. After retirement, Bonnie became a member of The Salvation Army church on Herring Cove Road in Halifax where she faithfully attended church and volunteered faithfully on Thursday mornings to help serve as part of their Breakfast program. Bonnie loved the water and spent many summers vacationing along side the ocean. Her greatest joy was her family where she cherished both her great niece Brooke, and great nephew and Godson Dylan. All who knew her heard many stories of both Brooke and Dylan. Bonnie is survived by her loving brother, Robert "Bob" Demers of Halifax, her cherished niece, Lisa Johnson of Moncton, NB, her treasured great niece, Brooke Alberta Johnson (Devon) of Moncton and her dearest great nephew and Godson, Dylan Robert Thomas Johnson of Sussex NB. A special thank you to Dr Trish Daigle-Maloney, nurses, Bronwyn, Erin, Dana and Cassandra, and all of the dedicated and supportive staff of 5A at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax NS. Additional thank you to her many friends who came from near and far to support her during her illness. Her dear friend Maria, Sherry, Mary, Cora, and Bev, to name just a few. Thank you to all who called and sent messages supporting Bonnie during this difficult time. There are too many to list but please know we appreciate each and every one of you. There will be a celebration of Bonnie’s life on Tuesday, March 28th at 11:00am at the Salvation Army Church, 328 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS B3P 2K9. In lieu of flowers, donations to 5A Inpatient Oncology - Nurses education fund would be greatly appreciated.
