John Clothier was someone I greatly respected. At 84 years old, Mr. Clothier had a sharper mind than a large chunk of people even a quarter of his age. He always had a pearl of wisdom and a good story. Whenever I would come up, he and I would chat for sometimes hours, on a wide range of topics...politics, technology, history, his past, my past...I wish I'd known him for a lot longer. I know it's going to be harder on his family, especially his grandson (who is one of my closest friends), than it is for me...but it's going to be daaaamn hard for me, too. He was a good friend to me, even though I was 50 years his junior. He stubbornly fought for years with COPD, and even in his final days fought beyond the time they gave him...I know he didn't fall willingly or easily, he just wasn't the kind to give up. I'm going to miss him. I'm going to miss him a lot. And, as I said, I know that you, his family, are going to miss him even more than I. That's all...hope I didn't ramble too much.
