Obituary of Edgar A. LeBlanc

94 of Sambro, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2017 at Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Hospital. Son of Albanie A. LeBlanc and Emerise Gauvin of Fox Creek N.B. He is survived by his children, William (Holly), Robert (Nancy), and Mary Ellen; grandchildren, Bradley (Rob), Andrew (Chelsea), Trisha, Jenna, Matthew, and Nicholas; great grandchildren, Grayson, Rylie, and Reese; sisters, Doris, Teresa, Eva; brother, Pat and son in law, James Gray. Predeceased by his parents and loving wife of 58 years, Mary Louise (Eisan); brothers, Henry, Roy, and Val. In 1939 at the young age of 15, Edgar enlisted in the Norwegian Merchant Navy as he was too young to join the Forces. He endured two ship sinkings and 4 years in prisoner of war camps before being liberated by the British and returning home in 1946. After the war Edgar worked as a brick layer with his families construction company, eventually ending up working for the province of Nova Scotia. Some of his more notable brick work was done in the restoration of the Halifax Citadel, Keltic Lodge and Liscombe Lodge. Edgar enjoyed bowling, checking on the local fishermen, and his beloved sports. If there was a sports game on, Edgar was watching especially if it was a Blue Jays game. The family would like to send out special thanks to all who cared for Edgar at his home away from home, Camp Hill Veterans Memorial V6 East. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home. A funeral liturgy will be held Saturday, May 20th at 10AM in St. Peter’s Parish, 1095 Ketch Harbour Road. Donations in Edgars memory may be made to St. Peter’s Memorial Garden or the Camp Hill Memorial Garden.
