Obituary of Leonard Eli Thibeault
Age 94, Halifax, passed away Saturday June 3, 2017, at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Digby, he was a son of the late Julien and Rose (D’Eon) Thibeault.
In his youth, Leonard was a member of St. Mary’s Basilica Men’s Choir, a passion he continued in later years with the Parkstone Voices Choir. He was a devoted family man and provided wise counsel to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his Blue Jays baseball games, engaging in conversations with friends and family, and long drives in his cherished Toyota Corolla. During his working career he was a fixture in the downtown community and forged many relationships through his kind and friendly manner. He was so appreciative of the care he received at Parkstone Enhanced Care particularly from Paula, Candice, Sue and Dr. Moreash. Leonard drew great strength from his devotion to his Roman Catholic faith.He is survived by daughters, Sheila Anthony (Derrick), Pasadena, NL.; Catherine Thibeault, Peterborough, ON; Lorraine Bezanson (Steve) and Mary Thibeault (Herb Steeves), both of Halifax; sister Lorraine Thibeault, Ont.; grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer), Sarah (Jeremy), Nicholas (Kendra), Vivian, Maggie, Steve (Jennifer) and Hilary; great grandchildren, Callie, Hannah,Liam, Arin and Wesley. He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn (Sim); brothers, Lionel and Gerald; sisters, Antoinette, Muriel and Alice.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. A funeral mass will be held today, Tuesday June 6 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church St. Michael’s Ave. reception to follow in church hall, Father Alfred Eshun as celebrant. Interment to take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery Mumford Rd. Family flowers only, memorials donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
