Obituary of Jane Susan Burchell

Age 77, Halifax, passed away on November 1, 2017 at Melville Lodge Nursing Home. Born in Sugarloaf, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wilkie and Julia (Jennie) Jobe. Jane enjoyed dancing and listening to country music at her home in Melville Gardens and enjoyed her special friendships with staff and residents there. She especially liked family gatherings and singing songs with her sisters. A good friend and tutor Paul Dawson helped her write poetry and stories about her Cape Breton home. She wrote letters and sent cards to express her compassion for others. Surviving are her sons, Tom; Ted (Pamela); John (Jacqueline); granddaughters Julia, Jasmin, Alexandra; sisters, Annie (Floyd) Woodworth; Diane (Sonny) Oakley; Pat (Winston) MacPhee; Frances (Pete) Davidson; Dale (Rick) Smith; brothers, Doug (Linda) Wilkie; Charles (Karen) Wilkie. No visitation by request. A Memorial Service will be on Monday, November 6, 1p.m. at J Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Rev. Michelle Bull officiating. Reception to follow at Golden Age Club, 212 Herring Cove Road.. Interment to take place at a later date.
