My condolences to all of Geri's family members. Geri had a lot of awesome attributes. Her awesome sense of humour and being able to make us laugh a lot was one of many that I loved about her.
May God bless each of you who are missing her and grieving for her.

I grew up in Springdale, NL, the same place as Gerry did and although she was my sister, Shirley's age and friend, I still knew her. She was a very friendly lady, with a great smile and often went the extra mile for people who needed it, if she was aware of that. Gerry was so humorous, she had this unique way of expressing herself which always brought a smile to the face of the reader. I enjoyed reading anything she wrote, especially to the Springdale Connection newsletter. To the family I want to express my sincere sympathy. I pray that the memories you have made with Gerry will help to ease your grief in the days to come. Rest in Peace Gerry! You have fought a great fight!

So saddened these days to learn of the sudden passing of my long time & best friend, Geraldine Clarke Decker. Friends from school days. We lost touch with each other for many years, but I found her again in Halifax & renewed our friendship and our bond was special & a blessed time together. We had so much fun. There are so many stories I could tell; here is one of them. We were planting a rock/flower garden for me. We decided to go out to a park area that we had wandered together many times - with lots of rock & wild flowers, we loaded the car and as we approached the end of the Park we saw a sign, we hadn't seen before, that said,,,, "Enjoy the park but leave the wild flowers for others to enjoy" - We looked at each other and decided to leave with our stash, and prayed to God to grow more flowers quickly. ... I did end up with a pretty garden - thanks to Geri.
I did a monthly Springdale Connection newsletter for 12ys and Geri never missed sending a contribution for that news-letter, her contribution was always so full of news of her work, her family and amazing stories that gave us all smiles.
In the Fall of 1997 I became very ill and often my hubby had to be on the road, particularly on weekends - I was bedridden, and could not have any sounds around me, so Geri would come & stay with me and cook meals. During the week, she often cooked soup or other meals for both Laurie during the week as well. You see, Geri had a heart of gold and such fun too be with.
She attend our Church and the people loved her - she particularly loved our ladies groups and was very involved in all their events... She is going to be sadly missed by our Church family.
I Cannot believe I am not going to see Geri on this earth again. Our awesome visit last summer was amazing and I will never forget it nor, will I ever forget you, my friend. RIP Geri ... I pray & live in hope I will see you in Heaven one day,
"Heaven is the absolute, unending presence of almighty God: "There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. ." (Rev. 22:5 NKJV)

I am so sorry to hear about Gerri. I knew her from coming to the community luncheon at St. Paul’s United Church. Gerri always had a kind word and a positive outlook on life. She had a “glass is half full” attitude. I will miss seeing her on Tuesdays.
My deepest sympathy to the family.
