Obituary of Bruce Edward Benedict

Age 57, Halifax, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side January 6^th, 2018^th at the QEII, V.G. Site. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Edward and Rita Benedict.

Known to many by “Papa Bear or Gumpy”, he thoroughly enjoyed working on cars, playing guitar and singing with his loved ones. If you ever had any issues with your computer, Bruce was always the person to call. He was always a reliable source with great movie selections and laughter when it came to funny voices and impressions. A favorite pass time of his was building model cars, wood working projects and most of all creating fun, laughter and unforgettable memories with his grandchildren and family.

He was survived by his wife of 35 years, Wendy Benedict; children, Sherry, Nicole, Brucey and Lacey; grandchildren, Sharisha, Tyrel, Tomaz, Tova, Kyra, Anina and Alaura; siblings, Heather (Royce) Tucker, Darlene Benedict, Susan Benedict and Tim (Donna) Benedict and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and loving friends. He was predeceased by nephew, Adam Swinamer.

Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd, where visitation will be held Friday January 12^th from 10:30 am-12:30 pm. As per Bruce’s request, casual dress, no monkey suits, jeans and t-shirts will do. Interment to take place at a later date. In leiu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the V.G. Site Halifax, thank you for your welcoming care.
