Obituary of Valerie Baker

BAKER, Valerie Mary - 62, Halifax, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2008 at the VG Site, QEII. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Marshall Baker Sr. and Anne (Martin) Baker. Valerie was a Personal Care Worker, a career she had dedicated her life to since 1986. She was a very loving mother, Grammy, sister and aunt, and she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Dwayne) Lane, Lakeside; mother, Anne Baker; brothers, Marshall Jr. (Judy), Hamilton, Ont.; Buddy (Joan), Hamilton; Wayne, Halifax; sisters, Heather, New Glasgow; Carol, British Columbia; Joanne, Hamilton, Ont.; grandchildren, Michaela, Caleb, and Seth; her former husband, Leo Longaphy; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her natural mother, Gertrude Mitchell; her father, Marshall Baker Sr., and a sister, Joan. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield, (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8, from 12-2 p.m., followed by a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Patricia Malin officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
