Obituary of James "Reg" Purcell
PURCELL, James Reginald "Reg" - 92, passed away January 16, 2008, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII. Born in Portuguese Cove, he was a son of the late Bresnan and Mary Alice (Power) Purcell. He was a veteran of the Second World War and the Korean War. After retiring from the army in 1965 with 23 years of service, he enjoyed several occupations of which fishing was his main love. He is survived by his former wife, Velma (Bunny) Purcell, Sambro; daughter, Glenda (Russie Henneberry); son, Brent (Frances), Portuguese Cove; sister, Lillian Martin, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Holly Henneberry (Jason Lake), Williamswood; Chad Henneberry, Kelly Purcell and Amanda Purcell, Portuguese Cove. He was predeceased by sisters, Eva Purcell and Olive Tone; brother, Bresnan. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601). No service or visitation by family request. The family would like to thank the current and former staff of V5 West for the excellent care they gave to Reg, as well as Reg's nephew, Charlie Baker and his daughter Melissa Baker for their wonderful support.
