Obituary of Geraldine AuCoin

AuCOIN, Geraldine Mary: 65, Halifax, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the New Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, NS. Born in Cheticamp, Cape Breton, NS, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Lillian (LeBlanc) Poirier. Affectionately known as Gerry, she had been employed with the QEII Health Sciences and the Infirmary for 25 years as a clerk, having retired in 1999. She will be sadly missed and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Charles “Charlie”, her two sons, Wayne, Calgary and Brian (Liane), Calgary, a sister, Agnes Petroff (Jim), New Glasgow, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Lazarre, Lionel, John Joe, and Joseph, and sisters, Marie Anna Cormier and Lucy “Jean” AuCoin. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Monday from 6-8 PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 10 AM from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Herring Cove Road, with Fr. Rob Arsenault as celebrant. Interment will be at a later date in Cheticamp, NS. The family would appreciate remembrances to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
