Obituary of Lillian MacKenzie
MacKenzie, Lillian Mary: 82, Halifax, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, March 10, 2008. Born in Dublin, Ireland, she was the only daughter of the late Michael and Marcella (Ormond) Maher. Lillian grew up in Ireland, and later moved to England where she had worked in a plane factory. She was a War Bride and married Roy Albert MacKenzie on her birthday in May of 1945. From England, she came to Canada to join Roy in 1946 on the SS Acquatania, arriving in Canada on her husband’s birthday. She was a member of St. Michael’s Parish, and enjoyed knitting and elder aerobics. She will fondly be remembered as a great woman. Lillian is survived by her son, Dave (Minnie Richards) McKenzie, Dartmouth, her daughter by choice, Kathleen (Richard) LeBlanc, Halifax, a daughter-in-law, André, Quebec, four brothers, Michael, Ottawa, Eddy, Wally and Jim, all of England, grandchildren, John, Kitchener, ON, Brian, Staecy and Cindy, all of Trois-Rivières, Que., and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Alexander. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy, a son, Kevin, brother Tony, and infant brother, Michael.
Resting at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, (477.561), where visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 10 AM from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, with Fr. Rob Arsenault as celebrant. Interment will be in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax, NS. Remembrances in memory of Lillian may be made to St. Michael’s Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
