Obituary of Alice Pelham

PELHAM, Alice Gertrude - 93, Herring Cove, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in St. Vincent's Nursing Home in Halifax, on March 15, 2008. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Doyle) Vaughan. Alice was known and loved by all for her gentle and kind spirit. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, in her community of Herring Cove where she resided for the past 70 years. She was an avid bridge player, enjoying the company of her many friends at community card socials, and throughout the years she continued to enjoy a lifelong passion for gardening. Alice will be fondly remembered by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her son, John Ross, Herring Cove; sister, Roberta Murphy, and brother, Sydney, both of Halifax; along with several nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Henry; sisters, Angela and Margaret; brother, Vincent. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., Halifax, (477-5601) where visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Herring Cove, with Father Gerry Gaurveau officiating. Spring interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Herring Cove. A special thanks to the staff of the 6th floor of St. Vincent's Nursing Home for the respect and dignity shown to Alice and her family during this difficult time, as well as Charles Anderson, Social Worker.
