Obituary of Granville Oakley
OAKLEY, Granville Joseph - 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 14, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Halifax, April 10, 1936, he was a son of the late George Henry and Philomena (McPhee) Oakley. He is survived by sons, Stephen (Janice), Halifax; Barry (Patsy), Ketch Harbour; and Paul (Carolyn), Coldbrook. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Leona Kelly, Cecelia Burns, Genora McGregor and Ida Kline; brothers, Edwin and Ken. He was predeceased by his sister, Jean Boutilier; brothers, Pius, Richard, David and Stanley. The family would also like to thank his homecare worker, Kathy of Windsor, for the unending care and love she has given our Dad. Special thanks also, for the exemplary care and compassion from the nurses and doctors in 5A, Gyne/Radiation Oncology and Palliative Care Unit, Centennial Building. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., Spryfield (477-5601). A celebration of Granville's life will take place in St. Michaels Catholic Church, Spryfield on Thursday, March 20, at 10 a.m. with Father Rob Arsenault officiating. There will be a reception to follow in the church hall. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Federation of Anglers and Hunters.
