Obituary of Nema Whalen

Whalen, Nema Mae: 81, Dartmouth, loving wife of the late Edgar J. Whalen, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in East Dover, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Annie (Foote) Zinck. In her younger years, Nema worked at Moirs Chocolates. For many years she then worked at Simpsons in the SouWester Restaurant. Nema then was employed at The Bay in the WestEnd Mall, from where she retired early to diligently and patiently care for her husband, Edgar. She was a faithful member of Sheffield Baptist Church. Surviving are her devoted sons, Gilbert, Dartmouth, and Ken (Susan), Halifax, her treasured grandsons, Ben and Brad Whalen, as well as many brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edgar in December 2005, her parents, and several brothers and sisters. Resting in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Monday from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 1:30 PM from Sheffield Baptist Church, 80 Lincoln Cross, Halifax. Interment will take place in East Dover Cemetery.
