Obituary of Carl Hartling

Hartling, Carl Eldon: 83, Halifax, NS, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2008 at Arborstone Enhanced Care, with his loving family by his side. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late C. Eldon and Florence (Boutilier) Hartling. Carl had served with the Canadian Army with Canada and Continental Europe. He was the recipient of the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Carl loved to dance and listen to music, especially Mr. Bojangle’s, but family and children were always his greatest passion. Carl will be remembered for enjoying a good game of horseshoes. Carl is survived by his brothers, Ernie (Eileen), Spryfield, and George (Linda), Spryfield, and his sisters, Jean Hartling, Spryfield, Marion Ford, Hammonds Plains, and Mary Strachan (Bill), Timberlea, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predecease by his parents, brothers, Guy, Clarence, Gerald, Arthur, and Phillip, and sisters, May, Susan “Susie”, Florence “Fluffy”, June “Junie”, and Stella. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the special friends, staff and nurses of the 3rd floor of Arborstone for all the care and kindness shown to Carl and their family. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 10 AM from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Patricia Malin as clergy. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in memory of Carl may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.walkerfh.com
