Obituary of Gary Field

FIELD, Gary Michael; It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden death of Gary on April 21, 2008. Born in Yarmouth on March 21, 1954, Gary was a veteran driver of 30 years with Metro Transit, whose friendly, easy going manner made him a favorite driver to many of his passengers. He was a former Vice President of Metro Transit Union Local 508, Director of Officials for Ringette Nova Scotia, volunteer referee and coach for Halifax Chebucto Ringette, and a member of St. Paul’s United Church, Spryfield. An avid outdoorsman, Gary enjoyed camping, canoeing, fishing, diving, and hunting. He is survived by Sharon and his two daughters, Kimberley and Jacqueline, his brothers, Reginald (Jocelyn) and Stephen (Sherry), as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Dorothy Field. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, (477.561), where visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008 at 2 PM from St. Paul’s United Church, Old Sambro Road, Spryfield, NS, with Rev. Jeanne Manning Stright officiating. No flowers by family request, in lieu, donations in Gary’s memory may be made to his daughters, Kimberley and Jacqueline, to further their education.
