Obituary of David Hayden
HAYDEN, David Leonard: 78, Spryfield, formerly of Windsor, NS, husband of the late May G. (George) Hayden, passed away following a courageous battle, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the QEII, VG Site, Halifax. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Carman L. and Ethel M. (Shepherd) Hayden. David had been employed as a meat cutter in Halifax before purchasing his own business in Windsor, NS. He and his wife, May, operated “Hayden’s Grocery” for many years, until May’s untimely death in 1986. David then resettled in Spryfield. For many years, he was a dedicated member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his children, Trena Kidston (Gary), Spryfield, Edward Hayden (Roxzena), Strathroy, ON, Crystal Hayden, Windsor, NS, and Mark Hayden (Sara), Windsor, NS, his 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister, Isobel Meehan (Raymond), Truro, NS, brothers, Stanley Hayden (Betty), Hatchet Lake, NS, James Hayden (Shirley), Spryfield, Wade Hayden (Glenda), Spryfield, and Eric Hayden (Joan), Mount Uniacke, NS, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, May.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477.5601), where visitation is on Tuesday from 6-7 for private family viewing, followed by public visitation from 7-9 PM. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrances in memory of David to the Canadian Cancer Society.
