Obituary of Lillian Gardiner

GARDINER, Lillian Agnes: 90, Halifax, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the New Halifax Infirmary. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Noel H. and Margaret E. (McCormick) Gardiner. Throughout her working career, Lillian had been employed at the Jubilee Boat Club, where she provided many services to the events planned at the club, always willing to lend a hand in any way she could. Lillian loved her family dearly, and will fondly be remembered for having a heart of gold by all who knew and loved her. She loved to play Bingo, especially with her sister, Gloria. She is survived by her only son, Ronald A. Gardiner (Marcia), Halifax, one grandson, Ronnie, one granddaughter, Andrea Phillips (John), two great-grandchildren, “J” and Bri-anne, a sister, Gloria Gardiner, all of Halifax, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Ronald, Harold, Edward and Leo, as well as her companion, Leo Sullivan. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. McKeane and his team, Dr. Mary MacDonald, as well as all the nurses on 4.1 for all of the care and kindness given to Lillian in her time of need. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 10 AM from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Purcell’s Cove Road, with Fr. John Fletcher as celebrant. Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
