Obituary of Ida "Ettie" Brennan

Brennan, Ida May “Ettie”: 81, Halifax, wife of the late Hector P. Brennan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Fort Macleod, Alberta, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Elizabeth (Skeffington) Westhaver. Ettie’s family was most important to her, and she will be remembered as a lady who loved her family dearly, and in turn, they loved and cared for her. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Thomas (Gloria) Brennan, Enfield, and Gordon (Cindy) Brennan, Edmonton, AB, her daughter, Sylvia Malcolm (Joe), Dartmouth, NS, and sisters, Mrs. Lillian McBride, Dartmouth, and Mrs. Joan Forbes (Don), Halifax. Affectionately known as Nanny, she is survived by grandsons, Shawn (Christine), Ryan (Cherie), Joey (Tammy), and Logan, granddaughters, Shelly (fiancé, Dan), and Jordan, great-grandchildren, Kyle, Reilly, Patrick and Will, a step-grandchild, Drew, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Hector, her parents, daughter, Joan Shirley, son, Hector Patrick, brother, Murray, and sisters, Eileen, Violet, and Alma. Resting at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 10 AM from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, with Fr. Rob Arsenault as celebrant. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, NS. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrances in memory of Ettie to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
