Obituary of Frank Covey

COVEY, Frank Murray - 88, Halifax, passed away August 3, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James Edward Covey and Rose Ann (Shea) Covey Kane. Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had always worked in the automotive or industrial industries. For 50 years, he worked at Auto Parts, Chappells & Sons Ltd., C.B. Bearing Ltd. Frank was known for his professionalism, product knowledge and customer service. He served in the Canadian Army and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Frank was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Always a sport enthusiast, Frank enjoyed golf and curling through to his retirement. He was a lifetime member of Brightwood Golf and Country Club and the Mayflower Curling Club. Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Olive; son, Frank (Barbara), Halifax; grandsons, Clint, Red Deer, Alta.; Dustin, Halifax; sisters, Mary (Jack) Norton, Bridgewater; Helen (Alfred) LeBlanc, Halifax; brothers, Vincent (Gail) Covey, Timberlea; Gerald (Mazie) Covey, Lunenburg; John (Liz) Kane, Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and James. Special thanks to the staff at Melville Lodge Nursing Home for their care and comfort during his residency. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., Spryfield. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, with Father Rob Arsenault officiating. Interment will be held in Emmanuel Cemetery, Spryfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Society Canada, Maritime Region (422-3656).
