Obituary of Albert Gray

GRAY, Albert Bernard - 73, Sambro, passed away at home on August 16, 2008. Born and raised in Sambro, he was a son of the late Francis and Audrey (Smith) Gray. Albert's various career's incuded carpentry (working with his father); maintenance work at St. Mary's University; but Fishing was to be his life's great adventure. He loved spending time with his family and friends at "the cottage" or fixing motors in his garage. Albert was a member of St. James United Church in Sambro, and assisted in the construction of the present building. Albert is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Eva Mae (Spares), daughter Janice (MCpl Phil) Weedon, Greenwood; twin sons Carl (Winnie Mitchell), Williamswood and Craig, Ottawa; brothers Maurice (Shirley), Sambro; James (Gale), Sambro; Randal (Lorraine), Lower Sackville; Frank (Juanita), Sambro; sisters Esther “Winnie” (Jim) Lightle, Upper Nine Mile River; Evelyn (Gordon) Brown, Whites Lake; Joyce Richardson, Bridgewater; brothers in law Robert (Mary) Spares, Falmouth; Sam (Joan) Spares, Oakville; sisters in law Norma (Gordon) Snow, Lower Sackville; Irene Spares, Brookside; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers in law Murray Richardson and Ralph Spares. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, from 4-6 PM. A memorial service will be held from St. James United Church, Sambro on Thursday, August 21, at 2 PM, with Rev. Ellen Wilson as celebrating clergy. In lieu of flowers, the family are requesting donations in Albert’s memory be made to St. James United Church memorial Fund (Sambro), Canadian Diabetic Association or Canadian Cancer Society.
