Obituary of Ernest "Dennie" Clark

CLARK, Ernest D. “Dennie”- 67, Spryfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 with his family by his side. Born in Spryfield and proud of it, he was a son of the late Gerald G. and Emily G. Oakley. Dennie was proud to work for the City of Halifax. He retired in 1991 after 30 years of service, having worked on snow removal, garbage truck, asphalt and the service truck. He was a member of good standing with CUPE local 108. He was an avid rabbit and bird hunter and dearly loved his weekends at the camp in Stewiacke. Dennie is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Bella (Pelerine); sons, Gerald “Jerry” (Janice), Fairview; Douglas (Melinda), Spryfield; daughter, Nicole Clark, Spryfield; loving and proud grandfather of Nicholas, Kirsten, Kara, Kyle, Cody, Darren and Marisia; brothers, Donald “Duckie” (Eileen), Sambro; William “Billy”, Williamswood; Ronald (Peggy), Harrietsfield; sister, Donna Chapman, Williamswood; brother in law, James Kelly, Ketch Harbour; sister in law, Mildred Clark, Spryfield; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother and best friend Roy; his loving sister Myrtle. Arrangements are under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601) where visitation will be held on Friday, October 24 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 10 AM in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Spryfield, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ernest’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
