LOHNES, Bonita Brucine (Bonnie), Halifax, passed away on December 24, 2008. Born in 1927, in White Plains, New York, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Daisy Webber. Bonnie had a happy childhood with her brothers; she enjoyed large family picnics and ice skating on the frozen Basin with her friends in the winter. She later worked with the Department of Education, Film Library after Graduating from Miss Murphy's Business College Halifax. She met the love of her life Arnold William Lohnes also of Chester Basin. They married in 1952 and began their life together in the then new mining town of Val'Dor Quebec.Returning to Nova Scotia Bonnie and Arnold settled in Halifax and raised their son Ashley in Green Acres Subdivision in Spryfield and were fortunate enough to spend summers at their modest cottage on beautiful Lake Mush-A-Mush, Lunenburg County. Bonnie was an active and contributing member of the Emmanuel Anglican Parish Spryfield and in the Anglican Mother's Union organization and she made many good friends both at home and afar as a result. Bonnie especially enjoyed her Mother's Union Trips to Victoria, B.C. and London, England. In later life Bonnie studied once again and became a licensed Anglican lay-reader helping many at the parish with sound advice, kind deeds and heartfelt prayers. Her positive attitude, traditional hospitality and kindness to everyone will be remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her son Ashley (Nancy Eisener), Portuguese Cove.
