Obituary of Gordon Francis

FRANCIS, Gordon Mellish - 73, Timberlea, entered into God’s loving embrace on January 12, 2009, after his death at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Gordon was born August 23, 1935, in Smiths Cove, Digby Co., a son of the late Thomas Hanley and Catherine Francis. Gordon demonstrated being a co-creator with God in his working career in construction and is celebrated across many denominations for his Musical Ministry. Life brought great joy to Gordon as he shared his natural talent and ability to spread God’s Word in song to various faith communities, churches, senior facilities. Gordon’s legacy of love and vibrant spirit lives on in his beloved wife of over 42 years, Alice Bernice (Brereton); their sons, Gordon Jr., Robert (Laurie), Allan, all of Timberlea; and Russell (Trish) Francis, Sackville; and their daughters, Bernice (Blair) Levy, Halifax; Geraldine (Bob) Leblanc, Edmonton, Alta.; sisters, Ida Moorehouse, Maine; Dorothy Cain, Ottawa; Catherine Francis, Rockland, Ont.; Nina (Harold) Slade, Timberlea; Sharon McCrank, Vancouver; and brother, Douglas (Jerry) Francis, Bear River; five grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Gordon is rejoicing with many predeceased family members. Arrangements are entrusted to Erin Jennings at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax. Gordon was inspired by his fellowship at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Timberlea, where visitation and a celebration of Gordon’s life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 16, Rev. Michael Conrad officiating assisted by Rev. Elaine Walcott.
