Obituary of Ann Twohig

TWOHIG, Ann Marie-78, Halifax. On January 14, 2009, Kenneth Twohig said a temporary goodbye to his best friend and wife, Ann, of 58 years. Ann died at home under the loving care of her husband, and son, Michael. Ann and Ken enjoyed camping at Klahannie Kamping in Aylesford for over 30 years. She was a retired employee of Sears. Ann fought a courageous six year battle with ALS with her loving husband and family by her side. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; son, Michael; her sister, Melba Brown (Thomas) and nephew, Joe Brown. She was predeceased by parents, Mary (Chisholm) and Joseph Dixon. A special thank you to the staff of the ALS Society of Nova Scotia who assisted them in every way; and to the staff of the QEII Health Sciences Centre Palliative Care Unit. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel, Pastor Gary Barrett officiating. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only. Donations in Ann's memory may be made to the ALS Society of Nova Scotia.
