Obituary of Barbara Clifton
Clifton, Barbara Mary (Young): 83, Halifax, passed away peacefully at Abbey Lane, Camphill Veterans Hospital, Halifax, NS, on February 13, 2009. Born in Halifax she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Florence (Hanley) Young. Barbara graduated from Mount St. Vincent and was a top student at war time. She was secretary for the government until she retired. Barbara loved bowling, darts, and crib and also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the Co-Op. Surviving is son, Peter (Marg), Hammonds Plains, daughter, Heather (Lenny), Stellarton, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Betty Lough, Clayton Park, Mary Mullens, St. Peter’s, Florida, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husbands George Reeves and George Clifton, brothers, Jack and Don. The family wishes to thank everyone at the Co-Op for looking after their mother.
Arrangements are under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from 10-11 AM, with a funeral service to begin at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Patricia Malin as clergy. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society.
