Obituary of Harold "Sonny" Campbell

CAMPBELL, Harold John “Sonny” … 73, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2009. He was a son of the late Harold Edward and Thelma (Weatherbea) Campbell. Sonny spent 35 hardworking years as a truck driver and mechanic with Marriotts Trucking. In his spare time he enjoyed driving around with his best friend Denny Cameron, looking for deer. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Kirk, Nine Mile River; Terry, Halifax; Jeffery (Paula Evans), Halifax; daughters, Sherry (Jimmy Lane), Halifax and Mandy (Bernie McPhee), Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Mark, Justin, Melissa, Ashley and Mandy; great-grandchild, Shelby; brother, George (Doreen), Dartmouth; step-brothers, Robert, Johnny and Freddie; sisters, Delina Pennell, Halifax and Merta (Arnold), Sambro; step-sister, Suzanne; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Dolores (Jollimore); brothers, Tom and Scott; brother in-law Harry; parents in-law Henry and Margaret Jollimore. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the emergency staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital and the ICU staff of 3A at the VG, and to Dr. Hall for all of their care and support. Special thanks to family and friends for their support in our time of crisis. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477.5601). By request there will be no visitation. A private graveside service for Sonny and Dolores will be held on Wednesday, April 8 at 11:30 AM in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville; Immediate family and close friends only. Donations in memory of Sonny may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
