Obituary of Alice "Kay" Dowe

DOWE, Alice Kathleen "Kay" - 91, Halifax, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 1, 2009, in Maplestone. Born in Boutiliers Point, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Elsie (Snair) Boutilier. Affectionately known as Kay, she was an avid accordion and mouth organ player, a hobby she was known for by many. She enjoyed baking and cooking, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her beloved daughter. Kay was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by her daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" (George Williams) Dowe; granddaughter, Shelley; close family friend, Margaret Zwicker, all of Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland; sisters, Mable Romo and Elsie Boutilier; brothers, Ralph, Robert, Franklin, Tracey and Noah Boutilier. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Maplestone for their love, care and support of Kay during her time with them. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 6 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow in Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
