Obituary of Harold Howard

HOWARD, Harold James … 87, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2009 in the Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James and Elizabeth (McGinnis) Howard. Harold was a veteran of the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Army. Following his service time he spent 40 years with the Canadian National Railway. He later worked as a Commissionaire at Stadacona until his retirement. He is survived by his daughter, Catherine (Peter) Phillips; granddaughter Amanda Phillips (Barry White) and great granddaughter Brittany Phillips, all of Spryfield; sister, Marjorie Latter, Halifax. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel (Oakley); brothers, William, Richard, Gerald and Donald; a sister in infancy. The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses of the Veterans’ Memorial Building, 5th floor for their compassionate care and support given to Harold during his time with them. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 12- 2 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM from the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Veterans’ Memorial Building.
