Obituary of Douglas Pottie

POTTIE, Douglas Joseph “Doug” — 55, Spryfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at home. Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late George and Edna (Dean) Pottie. Doug was an avid fan of hockey and going to the horse races. He was a loving family man who idolized his grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by his wife, Kathleen (Perry); son, James (Tracy); daughter, Theresa, all of Spryfield; grandchildren, Keith, Kiley, Riley and Leandra; sisters, Sandra Deveaux, Ontario; Priscilla Pottie and Diane Dye, both of Cape Breton; many nieces and nephews; many dear friends. He was predeceased by stepson, John; brothers, George and Donnie; parents-in-law, Robert and Marjorie Perry; brother in-law, Peter Perry. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield, NS (477-5601). By request there will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 5, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
