Obituary of Frank Carr
CARR, Frank Harold 72, Herring Cove, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Jack and Flora (Peach) Carr. Frank began his working career with the Royal Canadian Air Force and later worked for Canada Post as a mailman. He retired from the Halifax Fire Department after spending more than 30 years as a firefighter. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending many summers on the St. Mary's River fishing for salmon. He will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by his wife, Shirley Ann (Dempsey) of Herring Cove; son, Kevin (Teresa) of Westville; step-son, Dennis, of Herring Cove; daughters, Marilyn (Tim) of Hubley, Catherine (Paul) of Halifax; stepdaughters, Lynn Adams of Halifax, Kim Hawes of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Neil, Matthew, Adam, Amanda and Kyle; several step grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Joanne) of Connecticut, John "Jake" of Halifax, Ross (Marie) of Aylesford; half brother, Vernon (Denise) of Lunenburg Co.; sisters, Iris (Ken) of Dartmouth; Terry (Aubrey) of Halifax; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by infant brother, Harold and half brother, Donald. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601). By request there will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, June 30 at 2 pm from the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow. Donations in Frank's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association.
