Obituary of Marguerite Pelham

PELHAM, Mary Marguerite — 1920 - 2009. Marguerite Pelham of Halifax, and more recently Winnipeg, Man., died peacefully in Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg on July 16, 2009. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Stella (Gorman) McAvoy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Aubrey Pelham (May, 2005). Aubrey and Marguerite raised their family in Herring Cove, where they were both active members of their church and community. Although they left the "cove" for a few years in the 1960's, they returned to spend their retirement years close to family and lifelong friends. Marguerite was also predeceased by sons, Robert, Paul, Andrew and Joseph; brothers, Charlie, Clyde and Frank, and sisters, Marie and Catherine. She is survived by daughters, Cynthia (Roy Marsaw) of Ottawa, Ont. and Pat (Reg Gallop), Betty (Chuck Goodall) and Jennifer (Jack Henwood), all of Winnipeg, as well as her sister, Noreen and brother, James. She will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Natasha, Sarah, Angela, Adele, Aubrey, Stacey, Robert and Natalie, as well as her many great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her friends in both Halifax and Winnipeg. Without her at their card tables, the games will never be the same. Many thanks to the staff of GD5, Health Sciences Center Winnipeg for their kind and compassionate care. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (902-477-5601), where visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, July 20. Funeral liturgy will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21 in St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Herring Cove. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the charity of your choice.
