Obituary of Helen "Dolly" Griffiths

GRIFFITHS, Helen May "Dolly" — 79, Halifax, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Blanche (Bellefontaine) Griffiths. Dolly spent 25 years working at Regal in Halifax, and then spent the remainder of her life taking care of family and friends who loved her so very much. Dolly was a strong, loving woman, who will be missed by so many, and forgotten by few who had the pleasure of crossing her path. We can only hope that her strength and love will live on in each one of us. She is survived by son, Darrell (Darlene) Griffiths, Mount Uniacke; grandchildren, Angela, Lee, Natasha, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Aidan and Lucas; special nephew, Ron "Topper" (Cindy) Griffiths; special nieces, Amanda, Holly and Pauline; brother, Peter, Halifax; sisters, Marie, Gays River; Sandra, Cape Breton; Margie, Halifax; Elsie, Halifax, and Liz, Ontario, as well as many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Johnny, Freddie, Ronnie, and Harold "Dick"; sisters, Connie and Cecelia; niece, Gail Griffiths, and great-nephew, Ryan Kidson. Cremation has taken place under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax, NS (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. The memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, September 28, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dolly may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
