Obituary of Walter "Howard" Angle

ANGLE, Walter "Howard" — 81, Halifax, passed away quietly on Monday, November 16, 2009, surrounded by his loving family in the QEII, Halifax. Born in Gainsborough Township, Ont., he was a son of the late Walter and Violet (Mittlefeldt) Angle. He was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy. Throughout his life, Walter had worked as a boiler maker and as a longshoreman, retiring in 1991, following 31 years of service. He was a proud member of the Halifax Longshoreman's Association, Local 269. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, baseball, and driving. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ellienne (Keizer) Angle; sons, Wayne, Halifax; Dayna (Sharon), Prince Edward Island; Terrance, Halifax, and Stephen (Bernadette), Dartmouth; his daughters, Susan Sarty, Halifax; Denise Angle, Stewiack; Sharon Angle, Martin's Point, and Lynn Meyers (Darrell), Halifax; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brothers, Alfred (Marion), Keith (Jean), Kenneth (Patricia), and Lyle (Myrna), all of Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents and an infant son, Kevin. By request, cremation has taken place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Patricia Malin as clergy. A reception will follow the service. Family flowers only. In lieu, donations may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, Atlantic Division.
