Obituary of Doris Meuse

MEUSE (Little) (Makin), Doris Mary — 83, Halifax, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2009, in St. Vincent's Guest Home, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Genivieve "Jenny" (Rafter) Little. Doris was devoted to her faith and family. She enjoyed working with her hands and was often found making crafts, cakes, and doing jigsaw puzzles. Mom loved to dance and sing. Bingo and Christmas were her highlights and they brought her much joy. Doris had a listening ear and was quick to pray for those she knew and loved. Doris was a very active and dedicated volunteer with the Children of Mary, Northwood Manor, Faith Tabernacle, Golden Age Seniors Group, Full Gospel Seniors Group, and Sir John Thompson Manor. She is survived by her sons, John Makin, Lewis Lake and Bob Makin (Vanny), Halifax; stepson, Yvon Meuse (Dale) of British Columbia; her daughter, Brenda Gionet (Dave), Halifax; stepdaughters, Rosemarie Meuse of Dartmouth; Nina Meuse of Halifax; grandchildren, John, Tina, Paul and Angela; four great-grandchildren, as well as sisters, Joan Simms (Bud), Phyllis Welburn (Fred), Mildred MacPhee, and Marguerite Makin; special sister-in-law, Marilyn Little, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Harold Makin and Benny Meuse; brother, Tom Little; brothers-in-law, Dave MacPhee and Tom Makin, and daughter-in-law, Judy Makin. Arrangements are under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax, NS (477-5601). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 19, at 10 a.m. from St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will take place in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Donations in memory of Doris may be made to the Bonnie Lee Farm, PO Box 560, Chester, NS B0J 1J0.
