Obituary of Alice Francis

FRANCIS (Brereton), Alice Bernice — 79, Timberlea, entered God's loving embrace, joining her beloved Gordon, on November 22, 2009, after her death in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Alice was born in Halifax on October 19, 1930, and baptized at St. Paul's Anglican Church.Daughter of the late John Henry Place Sr. and Mary (Mont) Brereton. Alice worked for Cousin's Laundromat and Moirs Chocolates. Proverbs 31:28 best describes Alice as "Her Children rise up and call her blessed and her husband (the late Gordon Mellish Francis) also" for the legacy of love and devotion that she has inspired in them. Honored to be part of a solid family and a warm and wonderful home are sons, Gordon Jr., Robert (Laurie), Allan, all of Timberlea, and Russell (Trish) Francis, Sackville; daughters, Bernice Levy, Halifax; Geraldine (Bob) Leblanc, Edmonton Alta.; sisters, Marion George, Oland Sound, Ont., and Barbara Edwards, Halifax; sisters-in-law; Ida Moorehouse, Maine; Dorothy Cain, Ottawa; Catherine Francis, Rockland,Ont.; Nina (Harold) Slade, Timberlea and Sharon McCrank, Vancouver and brother- in-law, Douglas (Jerry) Francis, Bear River; five grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Alice is rejoicing with many predeceased family members. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601). Alice was inspired by the spiritual care and support of St. Andrew's Anglican Church Timberlea where a celebration of Alice's life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 27, with reception to follow in the church hall, Rev. Michael Conrad officiating, assisted by The Rev. Elaine Walcott. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
